Answers to March Blog Questions:

1. Loons, on average, return to nesting lakes in April.

2. False - thicker ice prevents sun from penetrating the water and allowing plants to grow/stay alive over winter. Thinner ice leads to excess plant growth in the summer!

3.  Only 9% of the Minnesota lakes are infested with at least one Aquatic Invasive Species.  That is ONE of the reasons we all need to work hard to protect ALL the lakes.

4.  Zebra Mussels are known to contribute to the high level of Mercury in fish such as Walleye.

5.  True: The Crosslake St Patrick’s Day Parade & Celebration was started by two Italian restaurants and an Irish Priest.
