SCAM UPDATES AND PROPERTY OWNER REGISTRATIONS

 

County Recorder's Offices Provide a very valuable service to property owners to help protect them from scammers.

 

Scammers have been attempting to sell properties that are not owned by them.  They are particularly targeting lots and properties that are not owner occupied and are owned outright without a mortgage.  It is wise to register all properties no matter occupancy status:

If you suspect that you are the victim of a scammer attempting to sell your property, do the following:

1. Report to Federal Trade Commission online: IdentityTheft.gov or call 877-438-4338

2. Contact the local authorities

3. Some Property Owners are going as far as having to place a sign on the property that their property is NOT for sale.
